Meet Spartan.

Spartan is a bold, expressive Standardbred with presence, confidence, and plenty of personality. After a brief career as a pacer, Spartan became a workhorse on a Pennsylvania farm where he was overworked and then discarded. He was sent to the same direct ship-to-slaughter facility as Jersey.  Unlike Jersey, he does not carry the same physical battle wounds, but he feels like a horse who may have once been misunderstood. His sometimes-aloof nature paired with a fiery, sassy side makes him a horse who keeps you guessing.

Spartan makes you work for his affection, but that connection is all the more meaningful because of it. There is depth to him and a strong sense that he is still revealing who he truly is. Curious, unpredictable, and expressive, Spartan brings the energy wherever he goes. Out in the field, Spartan has naturally stepped into the role of herd leader. He carries himself like a king, moving with a regal air and unmistakable confidence, often trotting with his tail flagged high. And when he isn’t ruling his kingdom, he’s busy making some of the funniest faces on the farm.
