MEET JERSEY.

Jersey is a big, soulful Standardbred with a heart to match his 17- hand frame. His larger size makes navigating life more challenging because he lives with arthritis and a rotated patella and a degenerative condition that affects his movement and will continue to progress with age. Despite this, Jersey wanders contentedly through his days, calm and at peace, taking everything in with gentle curiosity.

There is something deeply comforting about Jersey’s presence. He has a kind, happy disposition and an unmistakable puppy-dog sweetness – almost an Eeyore-like energy that feels relaxed, steady and sincere. He soaks up affection and meets every kind touch with soft eyes and quiet gratitude. Bred from a champion sire, Jersey had a brief career as a professional harness racer. When his career ended, he became a buggy horse on a Pennsylvania farm. After being overworked to the point where both his body and his spirit had broken down, he was consigned to a direct ship-to-slaughter facility. Now Jersey is finally living the life he deserves. Surrounded by his herd, comfort, and care, he is embracing his second chance fully. Pampered, spoiled and deeply loved, Jersey is truly living his best life.
